Protecting the icy world

When you shop with WWF, you’re helping protect the icy world that polar species rely on to live. You’re helping us and our partners track penguins and polar bears to learn about their movements, and to educate against pollution and overfishing. And together we’re tackling climate change so there’s a future for our frost-loving friends.

Despite living on different poles, penguins and polar bears face a similar threat. Both the polar regions are warming faster than the global average, leaving their future (and ours) in peril. WWF is already fighting to change the path we’re on. We’re working with communities to reduce ocean pollution and overfishing of essential krill. We’re putting pressure on governments to tackle the climate crisis. And we support researchers to track the polar populations so we know where to focus our efforts and save the most important penguin and polar bear populations, and other precious wildlife.

POLAR BEARS

Polar bears are solitary animals, however, as their icy home melts, they’re forced further inland where they have to coexist with humans. To minimise conflict between humans and bears, we’ve been providing steel food storage containers so people can store their food outside without attracting curious, hungry guests.

Shopping today can help

Stop illegal and unregulated fishing

through policies and treaties that ensure the natural food chain thrives.
