In the Malaysian state of Sabah, we’re working to preserve the remaining forests and wildlife through habitat protection and effective management. In some places, forest have been reduced to nothing more than isolated patches, marooned between swathes of agricultural land. This dissection and fragmentation of their homes has made it harder for many orangutans to find food and mates, leaving them extremely vulnerable.
But the good news is that we can support the recovery of orangutan populations by integrating the protection, restoration and reconnection of forests with sustainably produced palm oil. WWF is helping palm oil growers improve their practices through certification schemes and helping them to supply companies with palm oil that can be traced back to a sustainable source. With this gift you can help teams monitor orangutan populations to protect and improve the management of their rainforest home.
